Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility for DCI Recruitment 2026 depends on the position. Trainee Marine Engineer and Trainee Electrical Officer posts require relevant engineering qualifications, while NCV Trainee requires 10th pass and approved pre-sea GP Rating training. Fleet Personnel applicants must possess the prescribed maritime competency certificates or relevant professional experience.
- DCI Trainee Marine Engineer Qualification
- Candidates must have completed a four-year Degree in Marine Engineering from an IMU-affiliated, DG Shipping-approved or otherwise recognized institute as specified in the notification.
- Alternatively, candidates who have completed Graduate Marine Engineering from a recognized university after a four-year engineering degree may apply.
- Candidates who have already acquired or are about to obtain an MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency are not eligible for the Trainee Marine Engineer position.
- DCI Trainee Electrical Officer Qualification
- Candidates must have completed a four-year engineering degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering
- Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
- Applicants must also have completed the four-month Electro Technical Officer (ETO) course from a DG Shipping-approved institution. The notification additionally refers to completion of basic STCW courses.
- DCI NCV Trainee Qualification
- NCV Trainee applicants must have passed SSC / 10th Class from a recognized education board, completed an approved pre-sea GP Rating course and passed the DG Shipping-approved Exit Examination with at least 60% aggregate marks.
