Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in relevant industry in product design
- Demonstrated ability to design for high volume product solutions
- Expertise in mechanical design of parts: sheet metal, weldments, injection molded and formed plastic, busbars, extruded, die-cast, and harnesses
- Sound engineering design methodologies: minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T coupled with design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, reliability, quality, and cost mentalities
- Pragmatic design sense in new product development of electrical enclosures and associated hardware design and placement
- Familiarity with design for regulatory compliance for electro-mechanical products (UL/IEC/NEC) as well as outdoor and ingress protection design implementations is preferred
- Experience with BOM’s, ECO’s, DFMEA, FTA, and DVT processes is preferred
Job Description
- Support design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release
- Proactively conceptualize and prototype product designs based on market requirements
- Use engineering principles to analyze designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, material performance, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Within a collaborative design team, create and modify mechanical models and drawings in Creo Parametric
- Validate mechanical components, create test plans, and analyze data
- Estimate personal and peer design timelines as feedback inputs to project schedules
