Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Candidate must have at least 15 years of experience in engine design and development and engine and cooling system analysis.
- Advanced technical understanding of reciprocating engine design and development
- In depth knowledge of all applicable emissions regulations
- Knowledge of exhaust aftertreatment systems used in diesel engine applications
- Strong program management abilities in a matrix environment
- Effective communication & presentation skills
- Possess strong interpersonal and teaming skills with the ability to interact, build and maintain strong relationships with our direct team, cross-functional teams, customers and all levels of management
- Highly self-directed and self-motivated
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Job Description
- Integration of 1D modeling packages (GT-SUITE) to enable more efficient analysis and optimization of multiple engine, power, and cooling sub-systems.
- Identify advanced engine technologies that will make significant performance impacts and perform 1D engine, engine systems, and cooling systems modeling and analysis to predict performance and emissions.
- Coordinate development activities between locomotive sub-systems as required to ensure a fully integrated and optimized system.
- Support/guide 3D CFD in-cylinder combustion analysis as needed.
- Interface with locomotive systems team to optimize engine and power solutions technologies for hybridization, fuel cell, and electrification initiatives.
- Identify and coordinate external funding opportunities to support advanced engine and power solutions development.
- Define and own NTI development schedules, program plans, and budget
