Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong presentation skills
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles
- Attention to detail
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong sense of ownership
- Ability to multitask (scheduling and prioritizing tasks)
- Creative ability to generate concept designs and select optimal concepts (eg./ selection matrix, TRIZ, etc..)
- Demonstrated learning abilities and strong research capabilities
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio/Project – nice to have)
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a highly cohesive team
- Commitment to working with integrity and honesty
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software is an asset
- A strong desire to learn about mechanical design and possess a strong mechanical aptitude
- Well-rounded – hands-on mechanical ability and passion for interests and hobbies outside of work
Job Description
- Work within a team of Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process
- Apply scientific/engineering principals in the design of machines
- Execution of conceptual and detail design - 3D modeling of parts and assemblies
- Optimize design based on manufacturing processes (DFM), assembly and test
- Sizing and selection of components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearbox, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standards
- Perform calculations and analysis (structural FEA, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stack-up, etc..)
- Detailed drawings and application of GD&T
- Formal report writing and presentations to team members and management
- Work with team members in the validation of new designs (design and build of test stands, writing of test plans, analysis of test results, etc..)
- Contribute in design review meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Design risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEA
