Job Description
- Bachelors / Master’s in mechanical or equivalent engineering.
- 2 to 5 years of industry experience with Product Design & Development, Application engineering etc.
- Has worked with Machine design and mechanical components design, bearing testing and validation.
- Exposed to New product development process. (DFSS, DFM/DFA would be added advantage), with an understanding on the full value chain of the product.
- Should be thorough with understanding on manufacturing processes on steel, machining, super finishing etc.
- Basic technical knowledge in bearings and application of bearings.
- Expertise in bearings / applications / N&V would be an added advantage.
- Hands on experience with CAD / PLM tools like ProE, PTC Creo, windchill etc. Shall have understanding on simulation tools and be capable to interpret results.
- Should be experience with Project management and gated development process.
- Good analytical skills & experience running VA/VE projects, ICR projects etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to clearly communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
- Shall be agile & curious to learn & explore new technology areas.
- Understanding on digital /software tools / App development would be added advantage.
- To implement design rules for products following SKF Product Development Process and applicable methodologies like GPM and DFSS.
- To work within and mobilize the full engineering value chain for achieving desired results.
- To drive and carry out engineering tasks to our sales team, factories in technical development projects.
- To support the Product Design through the definition of the design criteria of components, within the current product range, whenever technological or functional innovations are required.
- To build knowledge between product function and corresponding product specifications.
- To define the product characteristics and its verification plan if the customer specifications are not met by current SKF specification.
- To advance and document development results for systematic design or application advice.
- To carry out the verifications/ validation plans for customer project.
- To support engineering change handling requests, competitive investigation etc. as per SKF guidelines.
- To be responsible for running continuous improvement activities to define and update design criteria for products and components, within the current product range for local market.
- Work with PLM tools & processes to maintain the product data whenever required.
- To build specific technical competence areas as a subject matter expert.
