Job Description
- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer shall be responsible for Mechanical design and drafting of Cargo Scanning products based on the approved requirements. He/She should be involved in preparing Technical, functional, safety and regulatory requirements, design, Finite element analysis and drafting of overall systems. He/She should be able to effectively work and communicate within a team of technically strong engineers. He/She should be adhering to the schedules, standards and quality processes and procedures of the Organization.
- Preparation of Preliminary design, detailed design and drafting of drawings for components/sub-assemblies/top level assemblies of security systems using best practices, design methodologies and company’s design and drafting standards.
- Assist Technical Lead/Manger in project scope/requirements and estimating effort and schedules of the project.
- Design and develop complete system level solutions for X-Ray Cargo Scanning systems.
- Responsible for executing all jobs in an efficient manner with less assistance from the Technical Lead/Manager.
- Help technically and work with the other team members closely by giving solutions for the system level design tasks.
- Work independently for responding promptly and professionally to manufacturing shop floor reported issues and issues reported by Customer.
- Participate in review of CAD models, drawings, documents and uploads in Agile PLM server and channelize learnings into future work by updating existing A3 documents or creating new A3 documents.
- Provide assistance to reviewers for determine type errors and severity of errors on the CAD models/drawings/designs that are created/updated.
- Upload created/updated CAD models and drawings in company’s Agile PLM server that includes Work in Progress (WIP) CAD models and drawings as well.
- Follow Engineering Change Notice (ECN) / Engineering Change Request (ECR) process as per Global procedure.
- Adhere to established quality practices based on ISO standard and minimize errors in work.
- Provide recommendations to management concerning issues of Design, Drafting and Prototype Development.
- Domestic/International travel is required for short duration for trainings and Project execution support.
- Consult with Technical Lead/Manager regarding professional skill development.

- Complete all the trainings assigned on company’s portal.

- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the organisation’s business needs.
- Expert level of hands on experience of Dassault systems Solid works software or Autodesk Inventor series software and able to customise software for the use of Design process customisation as specified. If possessing skills in Autodesk Inventor, should be willing to learn Solid works and build expertise in it and vice versa.
- Good understanding of X-Ray scanning systems working principles is desired.
- Possess engineering skills and ability to identify tasks which require X-ray Cargo scanning system level design effort.
- Good knowledge of mathematical formulae to support designs of in areas of structural analysis, thermodynamics etc.
- Good understanding of Mechanical manufacturing processes like sheet metal working, Structural welding,3D Printing using Plastics and Metal etc is desired.
- Good understanding of Theoretical knowledge of Finite element Analysis is preferred.
- Good understanding of Mechanical manufacturing processes like sheet metal working, Structural welding,3D Printing using Plastics and Metal etc is preferred.
- Good understanding of Quality control procedures.
- As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, expected to learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our systems.
- Knowledge in Estimation of time and effort on projects and tasks.
- Expert level of knowledge of American standard for GD&T, ASME Y14.5.
- Good hands experience of Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
